Reciprocal link exchange

How to exchange links right? One of the correct ways to get visitors is to exchange links with sites, which are similar by thematic. With a large amount of links to your site you can get not only traffic from partner-sites, but traffic from search engines. Algorithms of Google, for example, count the number of links to your site from other recourses, and also wards in the text and description. How to organize links exchange? For the beginning it is necessary to make a database, to which you will enter the next information: site – future partner, webmaster’s email, webmaster’s name and surname, your letter’s dispatch date, the date of receiving the answer (if it was), the answer itself (variants: yes, no, I don’t know, indefinite, write me later, my site doesn’t work, email doesn’t work), URL address, on which your link on the partner’s site will be placed, URL address, where you’ve placed the link on it.

After making the database it is necessary to set properties of the first two fields in such way, that there would be any coincidence in notations. It is necessary for control your mail dispatch, in other wards, in order you not to dispatch twice one letter to one webmaster (you risk to become famous for spamming). If you’ll try to enter twice one URL or email to base, you will be warned by the program.

Now, when you database is ready, but empty, begin to search partners. I’ll tell you at once: don’t exchange links with everybody. It will do you no good. First, sites with poor design, where all the information isn’t well ordered and the link to your site will be somewhere at the foot of the monitor in yellow on green background will hardly bring you at least one visitor a day. Second, if the visitor will come from your site (even if it looks great) to such page, all that he can do is to close the browser window. With it your site can give a bad impression.

One of the ways I use is in follows. I make a list of key wards, which characterize my site. Then I enter the ward in search engine and look at first 15-20 search engine result pages. Going through sites I choose normal pages (by design and contents) and put data to database: fields 1,2, if possible, the field 3 (name and surname).

So, coming from one search engine to another and look over key wards I make a list of sites to which I can offer an exchange. Now let’s come to the letter.

The letter must be brief, rather informative, and, the main thing, personal one. I mean, that you have to send letter in which there will be noticed with which site you want to exchange links – many have several sites, but indicate one email. If you managed to know the webmaster’s name, begin the letter with “Hello, *webmaster’s name*”. You must introduce yourself. Describe your site in two wards. It has to be in interest for the partner-site.

After making letters, add the dispatch date to the database and send letters. Now work up gotten results. Fill the residuary fields in the database: the date of received answer, the letter’s character. It can happen that webmaster will make the link to you at once and point the page address, on which it is made. Then fill next to last field in the base. With webmasters who agreed to exchange links behave yourself as follows. Make the link to the site first, send a letter with address, on which you’ve made the link, and with the request to make a reciprocal link to your site. In addition you can send html-code links. Ask to indicate URL of the page, on which webmaster will make the link to your site.

Now let’s consider the situation with those who didn’t answer you at all. I recommend a little bit later (1-2 months but no more) to send the letter once more, and advisable with the other text. Here I want to pay attention to the art of drawing up letters once more. Right drawn up letter will do you good. In fact all depends on the text. Make one more field in the database, in which you will note that the letter is sent repeatedly. Change the date in the field «sent» to the new one. In the case if you wasn’t answered the second time, leave it. After a couple of months nobody will throw the stone to you, if you will send the letter once more. It is important, because most webmasters with time understand the necessity of the links exchange, and if they won’t pay attention to your first letter, the second one (or the third) can come in handy.

Those addressees who clearly answered «no», mark in appropriate way and forget about them. Exception can be those who said «no» in particular to your site, i.e., in principle, the exchange with other site is possible. Such addressees you can mark as «no for my site 1». Further, if you will have site 2 (or you have already one), you can easily always choose these addressees from the base and send new letters.

Further, what to do with those whose email doen’t work at all (they are not rare), and you’ve got the letter from Mailer Daemon or other voice mail. Mark these non-existent addressees as «email doen’t work». For the experiment you can send repeated letter – the problems with mail servers can be temporary.

Let’s sum up.

What advantage does this scheme have? First, you systematize the work with mail: exclude repeated letters, URL of sites. Second, you visually see the working results: whom did you exchanged links with, the pages on which both reciprocal links are made. Also, you always can check the presence of link to your site – the link can be deleted without informing you about it (in such cases I send «preventive» letter, in which I ask to note an address where my link will be restored, or delete the link to dishonest partner). And, after all, the third: on creating the other site you can organize a new links exchange with those who have already exchanged the links with your site1. Now you have only to fill the base with new addressees, to maintain new «connections», and one day results will exceed all your expectations.
