increase site traffic
It’s not a secret that links of the best sites increase the traffic. However, not everybody knows that this is not sufficient for good ranking of Internet project by the searching engines. It’s a time when it becomes absolutely necessary to pay attention to the common strategy of a site in the links area as well.
This is caused by the fact, that all searching engines, beginning from the Google, pay more and more attention to the qualitative search results provision.Â
What does the term “qualitative search results mean? For searching engines it is, undoubtedly, a compliance of search results with a definite user’s request.
Abroad this matter was widely discussed on the recent Conference on The Searching Engines Strategy, on which Paul Guardy, the Teoma/AskJeeves search Vice-President; Rolf Michaelson, the Fast Software/Alltheweb Software Engineering Manager and Craig Silverstein, the Google Director on Technology, have shared the thoughts as for the approach of their companies to the sites relevance (compliance with request) evaluation at ranking.
What did top managers recommend as for our sites optimization in connection with current links analysis algorithms used by searching engines? The main idea is very simple – you should better find yourself in a “good company”. All these three searching engines use algorithms able to analyze the “reputation” of those, who are “connected” with you.
Craig Silverstein from Google team informed, that they would like to use “more humane treatment in the algorithm operation” for determination of the site value in accordance with used keywords and phrases.
Craig said: âTo the present day we’ve begun to develop and test more complicated mathematical models and program solutions of determination of how did other net users evaluate your resource value”.
It’s necessary to note, that Google has already been evaluating the number of incoming and outgoing links placed on your site, their “authoritativeness”, and also been determining whether your project being a member of any web-resources “association” united by one theme in the worldwide or local scale.
“If you simplify our work, we (searching engine Google) will like you more, – Craig says. So the recommendations are very simple: “Exchange links with the “honorable” sites; be sure that your partners use the keywords connected with your project theme be consistent at use of keywords and phrases on all the siteâs pages and very attentive at preparation of the descriptions to your keywords and phrases.”
Undoubtedly, links evaluation algorithm is not the one criterion, by which Google evaluates the Internet resources. There is a multitude of other aspects, which have been taken into account by the algorithm. You can find the article about such aspects at .
Teoma/Ask Jeeves
Paul Guardy from Teoma/Ask Jeeves team while telling about the engine algorithm said: “We started with an analysis of text, evaluated it, and then evaluated the total resource popularity” comparing and ranking the sites by the incoming links number. But, as different modern spamming methods could cause some problems at quantitative links evaluation, we paid special attention to their quality evaluation.” This means, that those sites, which the “qualitative resources” links lead to, are given a considerable priority. “The more “qualitative” links, the higher the priority.” After all, searching engine gives a high rank to your resource.
In order to form Thematic Associations, to the use of direct hit evaluation method we add click popularity evaluation”, – Paul continues. This means, that Teoma/AskJeeves evaluates the total sites association, united by common theme.
The presence of such “authoritative” sites associations, having high rank, is of a high significance. “We’re always watching which resources have been chosen by the Thematic Association as “experts”. As Paul says, in order to be high-ranked by Teoma/AskJeeves it is necessary to optimize all pages; not find yourself in a “bad company”; be sure that the links descriptions show something important and informative.
Fast Software/Alltheweb
Rolf Michaelson from Fast/Alltheweb team said, that their algorithm has separately evaluated incoming and outgoing links on the site, direction and consistency of the resource theme. The following stage of evaluation is the “ranking and classification of the links description”. As a result, algorithm forms a “statistic structure” able to evaluate your Internet project rather accurately.”
